Access via browser

"In production", SW-Lookup® is used via an Internet browser.

SW-Lookup® spreads the information over the network by means of the already mentioned SW-Lookup® dispatcher. Hereby, the dispatcher is used like an internet server by supplying its name (and port, if it does not run with port 80).

Therefore, you just have to know the following:

• The name or the address which hosts the dispatcher.
• The port, if the dispatcher does not run on port 80.

If you know this information, you can use SW-Lookup®. For example, if the dispatcher runs on port 8080 on the machine called "THERESA", you would open the browser, go to the address bar and enter http://theresa:8080; you would see the following page:

Choose "english version", and you see the following page:

Here, you can browse the manual and find out information about SW-Lookup®. These pages are located in the SW-Lookup® Dispatcher home directory in the "home/en_gb" directory and can be changed as you like.

The actual entry to SW-Lookup® is done by choosing "Login" in the headline. This will open a new browser window, allowing you to keep track of the manual. The login window will look like this:

Normally, you will work with a single language in your company. If so, simply put the link to start SW-Lookup® to the english page, e.g. "http://theresa/de_de/index.html"! If you want to have a direct link to the login page, you may also put a link to http://theresa/SWLOOKUP/USER/en_gb/PS_SEARCHPAGE/*. Even simpler, you may drag the address line of the browser to your windows desktop.
